Steve Ditzell Trio

Guitar slinger Steve Ditzell learned to play the blues on Chicago's south side. He was influenced by Otis Rush's "Singing String", yet prefers to keep the band rocking hard in the way the late Stevie Ray Vaughn did and draws upon influences from other blues and classic rock bands such as Cream, ZZ Top, Freddie King, Otis Rush and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He has shared the stage with Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Robert Plant, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnnie Winter, Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Koko Taylor, Big Mama Thornton, Lonnie Brooks and many more. Steve and his band Blue Lightning, which includes A-list sidemen Dave Kaye (bass) and Marty Binder (drums), play rocking blues featuring both original and traditional songs with great intensity. Their style is steeped in the Delta, with rock and roll influences. The band lays down fat grooves while Steve piles on emotion-drenched guitar solos, exploring the microtones where Muddy Waters lived, and passionate vocals. The band’s emotional involvement runs as deep as the delta, but keeps up an energy level that lets you know you don't have to leave your dancing shoes at home. From Carnegie Hall to the corner bar, their goal has always been the same--that the good times roll for all.
